United States Department of Defense
Policy: Order of Entry

This procedure is to be referred to when a ceremony hosted by the United States Department of Defense is taking place. An event hosted by an ally or otherwise stated is exempt to this procedure. Personnel who lead others into the designated rooms must use this procedure. If personnel who are in the Silent Drill Platoon or U.S. Army Drill Team are performing at a ceremony they take precedence after the CNO, CMC and CSA. A Sailor, Marine or Soldier does not have to forfeit his or her seat in the designated room for a higher ranking Marine once that person has entered the room. (This rule can be nullified by the CJCS, VCJCS, CNO, CMC, CSA and/or host at any time during an event).
