United States Department of DefensePolicy: Personnel Relationships
The United States Department of Defense does not take responsibility for your personal relationships so long as it does not effect the integrity and operations of this military. It is required that you treat every person fairly and with respect, and discernibly abide by the following policies on personnel relationships.
FRATERNIZATION POLICYThe United States Department of Defense prohibits romantic relationships between soldiers or sailors in different rank groupings to maintain good order and discipline, as well as in an effort to avoid a conflict of interest. It also prohibits personnel in relationships from serving as a superior of the other within an MOS/Rating. The effects of inappropriate rank relationships include:
- Compromising the integrity of the chain of command and holds an adverse impact on discipline and authority.
- Potential portrayal of unfairness and/or use for personal gain.
Exceptions to this policy include:
- Relationships that predate the effective date of this policy
- Situations in which the acceptable rank relationship would move into non-compliance due to a rank promotion, so long as the relationship began before said promotion. (Need approval from CJCS)
- Personal relationships outside habplus/online.
FAMILY POLICY
All siblings (brothers, sisters, cousins, grandmothers, etc.) are required to announce their relationship to the CJCS. Failure to do so can result in disciplinary actions. You must send a PM to the CJCS informing of your habplus name, your relative's habplus name and whether or not you live together. You must also do this if there is ANY CHANCE you might have the same IP. For example having a friend that registers on your computer.
If a member of your family has recently been enlisted into the U.S. Department of Defense, and they will be requiring forum access you are required to fill out the following form and send it to the CJCS BEFORE they register on the forum. If a form is not received their request for forum access will automatically be denied.
